Picking what to write about for this post was more difficult than I had anticipated. There is so much to choose from that it can be a bit over whelming. So as I move forward I need to find some kind of way to focus on one thing each day and try to put my spin on it. So as a cope out I choose an easy strategy for today. That is to begin with currents events and discuss an issue that is dominating the headlines; which is high profile individuals ruining up their reputation by engaging in behaviors that our culture has decided to be “wrong” or “immoral”.
One person that the media has focused on is the former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has been under fire for revealing his infidelity that resulted in a child. This story has been covered to a point of exhaustion. But my focus is not so much on what he individually did; rather it will be on some kind of underlining matter. And that is should high profile person be subject to criticism from the public about something that they did in their personal life even though it might not necessarily break the law. Or are we putting up unfair expectations on these people. Is it unreasonable to believe that some people are capable of compartmentalizing their private life so that it will not affect their productivity as a leader, athlete or even a teacher?
The song of the day is "Sound and Vision" from David Bowie's 1977 landmark album Low, hopefully you enjoy it.
