Feist "How Come You Never Go There" track review.

“How Come You Never Go There”, marks the official return of Feist. The Canadian singer has been relatively quiet for the past couple of years following the commercial and critical success of “The Reminder”. The new single comes from her upcoming album titled “Metals” due to be out sometime this fall. The song is a light, breezy and elegant number that is driven by the singers multi tracked vocals paired along with some well paced piano chords.

“How Come You Never Go There” has a live and intimate aura, there isn’t too much overdubbing or studio trickery going on, well at least from what I can tell. However, there is a lot more going on here with the way that everything is put together. A brass section makes its presence felt throughout the song; and it fills in to add a little drama in the middle section. There is also a carefully played guitar solo that spices things up a bit but doesn’t take the attention away from the rest of the production.

There is a brief quiet moment towards the end; then the track picks up some steam one more time for a strong finish. During the latter part, the horns are much louder and the drums are played with a little more emphasis than before. “How Come You Never Go There” maintains Feists signature style that she perfected over the years and doesn’t really do anything that we would not expect from her. It is an enjoyable listen and worth checking out.

Song of the Day is "How Come You Never Go There"
